HackMii Installer v0.5
Gisteren meldde we jullie dat Nintendo een nieuwe update uitbracht die ALLE 'ongewenste' aanpassingen om zeep hielp. Maar het is ze weer gelukt hoor, de mensen van team Twiizers heben al weer een nieuwe installer gemaakt voor het Homebrew Channel, DVDX en BootMii.
HackMii installer (v0.5):
- New exploit to enable (un-)installation of all components on fully updated Wiis.
- Fix hangs on some setups (they’re all related to retarded IOS patches).
BootMii beta 4 (v1.1):
- Properly write the keys to nand.bin.
This fixes the “NAND dump is from another Wii” issue on restoring beta 3 backups. If you don’t know how to fix those dumps, you have to backup the NAND again. Dumps from all other versions are not affected.
The Homebrew Channel v1.0.5:
- Faster startup.
- Prefer boot.elf over boot.dol when launching apps.
- New shiny fonts, tweaked to the last subpixel.
- Widescreen support.
If your Wii is set to 16:9 in the system menu options, HBC won’t strech the picture like it did on older versions. Unfortunately the fonts might look a little weird then, it really depends on the used display unit. Blame the lack of true widescreen support on the Wii for that.
- Grid view.
Hit 2/Y while browsing applications to switch between the old and the new view. This shows 4 columns on 16:9 setups, 4:3 users only get 3.
- Device hot-plugging.
You can remove and insert devices (front SD slot, USB mass storage, and SDGecko in both slots) at all times now without reloading HBC.
To change to another device, hit 1/X to bring up a simple option dialog.
- Application sort order.
You can now choose how to sort the shown entries. Current options: either by the name or by the release date.
Note that for the latter sort order a valid release_date tag has to be present in the meta.xml file.
Again, hit 1/X for the options dialog to set this.
- wiiload overhaul.
On-the-fly compression: Uploaded files are automatically compressed on PC side: This makes it way faster, especially on bigger files. ScummVM, anyone?
Improved USBGecko support: Faster uploads, and you don’t have to stop reading debug messages from the device while uploading files.
libftdi support: Because ftdi-sio fails, especially on OSX.
Note: Because of these improvements, older wiiload version and 3rd party upload clients are incompatible. Use the bundled v0.5, binaries and source code are included.
- Basic application management.
To add apps: Just wiiload a ZIP archive, it will then get extracted to the active device. The ZIP file must be structured in a certain way, check this description for the details.
To delete apps: There’s a new button on the application dialog.
DVDX:
- Allow PPC side hardware access.
Also known as the magic HW_AHBPROT register.
- TMD version bumped to 2, in case anyone needs to check for e.g. HW_AHBPROT.

PokéSav HG/SS v0.03
Versie 0.03 is uitgebracht van het programma PokéSav HG/SS waarmee save-bestanden kunnen worden bewerkt van de spellen Pokémon Heart Gold & Pokémon Soul Silver.
Het programma is oorspronkelijk alleen in het Japans te verkrijgen, maar het is door iemand naar het Engels vertaald.
In versie 0.03 is het, ten opzichte van de twee eerdere versies, mogelijk om meerdere Key Items te bewerken en er zijn enkele fouten opgelost.

Wii-firmware 4.2 uitgebracht
Nintendo heeft nieuwe systeemsoftware (firmware) uitgebracht voor de Nintendo Wii. Het gaat hier om versie 4.2 die per direct te downloaden is.
De nieuwe firmware zorgt ervoor dat homebrew verwijdert en geblokkeerd wordt van de Wii, dus als je je Wii hebt omgebouwd, moet je zeker niet updaten!
De nieuwe Wii-firmware bevat verder geen nieuwe functies voor de Wii. Er is op dit moment nog geen oplossing voor omgebouwde Wii's die al firmware 4.2 draaien.

Ranger GPS DS is vanaf vandaag te koop.
De Ranger GPS voor de DS (DSi niet) is vanaf vandaag te koop bij dealextreme. Ranger GPS is een GPS systeem voor op je ds. Het systeem maakt gebruik van google maps. Om ranger gps te kunnen gebruiken moet je een vrije slot-1 en slot-2 hebben.

Team Twiizers maakt nieuwe exploit met LEGO Indiana Jones
Team Twiizers heeft een nieuwe exploit gevonden voor de Wii. Dit keer is er gebruik gemaakt van een een buffer overflow in het spel LEGO Indiana Jones. Het enige wat je hoeft te doen is de savegame op de Wii te plaatsen, het spel te starten en dan naar de "art room" te lopen. Als je kijkt naar het tweede karakter gaat de exploit in werking treden.

Nieuwe DSi kleuren.
Vanaf 23 Oktober dit jaar komen er nieuwe DSi kleuren naar Nederland toe! De DSi zal in 3 nieuwe kleuren te koop zijn: Metallic Blue, Light Blue en Red. Voor geïnstalleerd zijn de Facebook-functie en Flipnote Studio.

Wii wordt waarschijnlijk goedkoper
De mannen van engadget hebben een screenshot van een memo te pakken gekregen waarop te zien is dat de Wii een prijsverlaging krijgt vanaf zondag 27 september. De nieuwe prijs zou 199 dollar worden in Amerika (nu kost de Wii daar 249 dollar).
Eerder lekten er al advertenties uit van Walmart, Toys R Us en Best Buy. Deze advertenties gaan allemaal komende maand is dus de kans dat dit echt gaat gebeuren is dan ook erg groot. Het kan natuurlijk ook allemaal een grote marketing-truc zijn van Nintendo. Niet dat ons dat uitmaakt, een goedkopere Wii is altijd mooi meegenomen
